THEO CROKER QUINTET FT. IRWIN HALL

Theo Croker & DVRKFUNK.  Black Cat is always packed and vibing when Theo Croker & DVRKFUNK are in the House. It is the same reason large venues across the globe are filled when this dynamo band hits the stage:  they are nothing short of sensational. Downbeat in awarding a top 4 star rating to Theo’s newest album raved:  “Escape Velocity is an amazing album of poise, power and ambition.  Crocker is an incredibly talented artist we will be listening to for a very long time!”  Even though this latest album explores the ranges of jazz crossover sounds (hip hop, rap, funk and electronica), Croker is masterful in his exploration and reinterpretation of classic jazz standards, as well as taking those time-tested techniques and creating new standards of his own from contemporary hits.

IRWIN HALL is an internationally renowned saxophonist, flautist and clarinetist. His infectious sound, enchanting melodies, and natural charm immediately draw the attention of any room he plays. Whether playing contemporary, free or traditional jazz, soul, funk, gospel or the blues, Irwin’s versatile and open approach to music and improvisation keeps fans coming back for more. He has performed in hundreds of cities around the world including London, Tokyo, Prague, NYC, Paris, Pori, Shanghai, Melbourne and many more. Over the past decade, Irwin has established himself as a leading soloist and in‐demand sideman, touring and recording with 3x Grammy/Tony Award winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, Universal recording artist Melody Gardot, award‐winning trumpeter Theo Croker, and bass virtuoso Charnett Moffett, to name a few. Critics and fans agree-Irwin Hall is one of the dominant saxophonists on the global music scene.
