AARON KRUZIKI ENSEMBLE FT. PARIS PIANIST TONY TIXIER
Friday, September 29, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm$15
The French-American Jazz Exchange
Transplanted from NYC in early 2017, saxophonist and clarinetist Aaron Kruziki calls San Francisco ‘home’. Aaron has been a core member of Andy Milne’s Dapp Theory since 2010 (NYC) and apart from the many amazing local musicians he plays with in NYC and SF, has shared the stage with Fred Hersch, Ben Monder, Stanley Clarke, Ralph Alessi, David Gilmore, and the late Joan Rivers.
Aaron is obsessed with the ‘good sound’ and has a melodic voice. Armed with the knowledge that the best music is beyond category, Aaron’s biggest influences are David Bowie, Miles Davis and Olivier Messiaen. He is an active composer and producer, and has released 5 albums as a bandleader/ producer, in varying styles and projects. Aaron has also appeared on a dozen-or-so recordings in a supportive role on bass clarinet, clarinet, flute, alto and soprano saxophones, duduk, voice and keyboard programming.
Apart from numerous grants and awards, Aaron is one of the very few who simultaneously won jazz and classical Downbeat Student Music Awards with the same submission. He has resided in San Francisco’s ‘Haight-Ashbury’ since March ‘17, and enjoys his work in retail piano sales at Steinway & Sons.
“Everyone needs to express themselves, and whether it’s positive or negative, us Americans aren’t afraid to do so. Having access to an Arts Education allows us to find new ways to express ourselves, and will help develop our leadership skills, giving us the malleability to live a healthy, happy and productive life. My work is an expression of this belief”
