From NYC, THEO CROKER’s “Star People Nation”

When Theo plays, the vibrations in the room are elevated! His intensely honed mastery of his custom trumpet is intertwined with highly innovative interpretative elements and mind expanding improvisation that shatters all expectations. Theo’s fifth album “Escape Velocity” embodied those elements and soared to #1 on the UK Jazz charts. Theo has headlined major jazz festivals all over the globe, most recently the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival. He has traveled the globe and led the band for DeeDee Bridgewater for many years.

Croker’s latest album “Star People Nation!” (Sony Music) is “an intimate exploration of the everyday rituals of blackness” – AFROPUNK. The album is a translation of Croker’s personal, spiritual, and creative experience — a self-reflective collection of provocative, powerfully passionate, and boundary busting compositions that speak to our greater shared human existence. This powerful recording — produced and mixed by Grammy-winning and multi-platinum producer/engineer Bob Power (Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, D’Angelo) — is a seamless pairing of the earthly and celestial, a transcendence of sound rooted in it’s multifarious eclecticism. Don’t miss this musical experience that will transport you to a higher place! Croker is joined by his exceptional collective which includes Shelwaga Ode (drums), Mike King (keys) and Eric Wheeler (bass).
