“I am the music. I am my first instrument and the music is in me” says one of our favorite resident musicians, Rodney Ruckus. He hails all the way from Miami, Florida where he began playing drums at the age of two. His shows this week will feature many Bay Area Jazz greats, in tribute to the legendary Robert Glasper. Book now, as tickets will go fast!
Ruckus is a Berklee College of Music Alumni and is touring all over the world playing music with his group called Ruckus Elevation. His recent performances include artists such as Theo Croker, Tia Fuller, Darren Barrett, Herbie Hancock, Joey Alexander, Chick Corea, Donald Brown, Billy Childs and Wynton Marsalis at venues like Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Blue Note NYC, Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy and many more all over the world. Rodney enjoys sharing his gift with all types of different communities and wants to bridge the gap of success between young musicians and the professionals. When he performs at Black Cat, he really brings the Ruckus!
