Saxophonist Owen Broder is a member of Anat Cohen’s group and leads several innovative projects of his own including Cowboys & Frenchmen (which performed at the DC and Umbria Jazz Festivals and garnered critical acclaim for the album “Rodeo”) and The American Roots Project. He has performed with John Legend, Ryan Truesdell, The Temptations, and The Four Tops to name a few. Broder’s latest project, “Hodges & Duke”, celebrates the 60th anniversary of two iconic recordings by jazz masters Johnny Hodges and Duke Ellington. The albums “Back to Back” and “Side to Side” are fascinating and rare examples of Ellington’s lead saxophonist in a small-group setting. Broder explores and reinvigorates these historic gems with his all-star ensemble which includes Owen Broder (alto sax), Josh Reed (trumpet), Dahveed Behroozi (keys), Tal Mashiach (bass), and Anthony Pinciotti (drums).
