A Paris resident, and a hot rising star on the European and international jazz scene, pianist Tony Tixier has performed with music legends Wallace Roney, Christian Scott, Alpha Blondy, Seamus Blake, Logan Richardson, Etienne Charles, Kendrick Scott. He has been featured on some of the top stages in the world including Radio City Music Hall, Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Blue Note NYC, Jazz in Marciac, Jazz a Vienne, and the legendary Ronnie Scotts in London. Tony opened for Herbie Hancock at the Jazz En Tete Festival in Clermont-Ferrand with his twin brother, violinist Scott Tixier.
Downbeat Magazine considers Tony “one of the most gifted pianists of his generation.”
What makes Tony’s music unique? In his words: “I started composing when I was 6, as soon as my fingers touched the keys. My music is all about deep tradition, spontaneous creativity, technical expertise, and discovering the special groove and feeling that touches people’s hearts.”
Tony just completed his third album in NYC entitled “Life of Sensitive Creatures”, a somewhat autobiographical work. Giving the album 5 stars, UK Vibe says that “you will hear new things every time you listen to the album because of its subtle complex layers.” His second album, “Dream Pursuits” was labeled a “revelation” by Jazz Magazine.
Tony’s intriguing musicality appeals to jazz, hip hop and electronic music audiences alike, and has garnered performance and composition relationships with LVMH, America’s Got Talent, Tommy Hilfiger and other global lifestyle brands. Tony is a rising star in the jazz world and beyond.
Scott Tixier has made a name for himself as a violinist-composer of wide-ranging ambition, individuality and drive — “the future of jazz violin” in the words of Downbeat Magazine and “A remarkable improviser and a cunning jazz composer” in those of NPR.
The New York City-based Tixier, born in 1986 in Montreuil, France has performed with some of the leading lights in jazz and music legends from Stevie Wonder to NEA jazz master Kenny Barron, Cassandra Wilson, John Legend, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, Pedrito Martinez, and many others. Tixier’s acclaimed Sunnyside album “Cosmic Adventure” saw the violinist performing with a all star band “taking the jazz world by storm” as the All About Jazz Journal put it. The Village Voice called the album “Poignant and Reflective” while The New York Times declared “Mr. Tixier is a violinist whose sonic palette, like his range of interests, runs open and wide; on his new album, “Cosmic Adventure,” he traces a line through chamber music, Afro-Cuban groove and modern jazz.” When JazzTimes said”Tixier has a remarkably vocal tone, and he employs it with considerable suspense. Cosmic Adventure is a fresh, thoroughly enjoyable recording!”
