Zach brings two decades of elevated hospitality management experience to Black Cat. In addition to directing all operations at Black Cat, he is a classically-trained sommelier and wine educator, having run beverage programs and consulted for many clients in the bay area, from high-volume spots to Michelin-rated destinations.
After studying Economics, he devoted his studies to wine and spirits, acquiring numerous accreditations, including the distinguished Diploma in Wine & Sprits from the London-based Wine & Spirits Education Trust, the rigorous Certified Wine Educator credential from the Society of Wine Educators, and the French Wine Scholar certification from the Wine Scholar Guild. He is also well-versed in distribution, logistics, and importing, having served as Director of Sales for a notable European wine importer for four years.
His extensive travels throughout the globe have included stops in nearly thirty countries and throughout the world of wine, including an extended six-month sojourn in France and Italy.
When not running the show at Black Cat or leading classes for fellow wine aficionados, he prefers to be drinking cheap beer in exotic places.
